Baccarat is a simple game but may seem confusing at first. Basically, there are two hands of cards and at the start of the game, you bet on which hand will have the highest total value. The two hands that are dealt are the banker’s hand and the player’s hand.
To start the game, the dealer will give two cards each, first to the player and then to the banker. A third card will be drawn from the player if the total value is 5 or less. A third card will be drawn if the total value of the cards is 0, 1, or 2. If the total value is 3, 4, 5, or 6, the banker will draw a third card only if the player did.
If you win betting on the player hand, you will get paid even money but if you win betting on the banker’s hand, you will be charged a standard 5% commission fee on the money won. There is another option to bet. You can bet on a tie. If you win betting on a tie, you are not charged any commission fee. This is not a smart bet considering the odds of the game ending in a tie are only about 14%.
